Birthday party Koro na

We are in the third phase of the Corona virus induced lockdown. While in the first phase we all probably did not know where we were headed and were probably treating the lockdown as a respite from life in general, this time around we are almost pro at what we can and how we can do in these demanding (or maybe far simpler) times.

Today was the birthday of a dear friend's daughter.  Since we have known them almost every year this day has been a huge celebration because my friend takes the kids out and treats them to whatever their hearts desire, no bars. When I called her up during the day to congratulate her and wish the child, I was sent the address of the party venue.

The only difference was that this time around the kids were to meet virtually and not physically. They were all to Zoom in from their houses. Hats off to my dexterous friend for arranging an hour filled with games, jokes, banter and fun between this bunch of girls.

How liberating it must have been as an organiser! Lets count:

1. No worries about a party dress, (though our Ms Sood took special cares to slip into a dress from the usual fare of summer shorts and thank God for it!)  for the party.

2. No fretting about the menu. (WOW!!) No need to keep track of who all need to be served an eggless cake and who can not be given a cold drink as much as the child asks for. A daunting task, in my opinion, when faced with pleading eyes and little hands holding a cup asking for just a few sips but orders from the very high command.

3. No tension of arranging pick ups and drops.

4. No need for party decor = less mess house at the end of it all.  A complete win!

5. You can be as selective about inviting people as you want to. In fact, you can have as many as the App allows you to invite.

5.  Most importantly no anxiety about what is to be given to the winners or as a return gift which will please the kids and parents alike. (We all know who judges us on the return gifts and that definitely is not kids!)

On the other hand it is so great for the guests as well, almost for all the reasons listed above

In my humble opinion we should continue with  this trend post C as well. Less anxiety= Happier moms!
