Book Review: Whiskey Rebellion by Liliana Hart (Addison Holmes #1)

Some major drinking is happening in the titles that I have read recently. I am though no drinker. Salted buttermilk is more up my alley than any other hard drinks.

Getting back to the book at hand, or rather the book on the mobile device that I finished about a month ago but was too disheartened by lack of engagement on this amazing project of mine to write the review of. So Liliana Hart's Whiskey Rebellion happened at a good time to me when I was so down in the dumps that a murder mystery with M&B feels was the only thing that could have pulled me out. Well, this is the book review for you in a nut shell.

This book like the ones that I am reading under #yearofthethriller project is the first in a series where Private Investigator Addison Holmes makes her first appearance. It would not be wrong to say that this is the book in which she, a History school teacher desperately in need to make money for buying an apartment gives a shot to being stripper, fails at the audition and bumps into the body of Heer principal who was also at the club where she was performing.

The story progresses and we are introduced to the demanding circumstances of the life of Ms Holmes and the rest of the cast which includes her friend Kate, owner of a detective agency, her mother and providing the sexy, Detective Nick Dempsey oh and also a host of character who get murdered or are murderers from amongst the population of Whiskey Bayou in Georgia, USA.

Had I been in my right senses I might not have enjoyed this book and probably would've given upon after initial few pages. Addison attracts accidents relentlessly and not often shows any presence of mind or knack for anything except falling for trouble. The romance blows hot and cold and is a good thing about the book. Sometimes when you have gone through some grisly murders, a dash of dreamy cop is what the doctor orders.

This book wasn't even on my radar but the name of the second book in the series "Whiskey Sour' brought it to my attention because I had really liked the novel by the same name by JA Konrak and I went looking for the #1.

So whether you should read it or not remains debatable. People have responded in extreme to the book and hence the best thing to do will be to evaluate the fact whether or not you will like to see your murder mystery diluted.

Disclaimer: She is not related in any way to any of the famous(er) Holmes siblings.
